Biogas Plant

Biogas Plants Designed Around Organic Waste

Arcistar provides compact CBG plant solutions for processing organic feedstocks into renewable energy. Built around Arciplug® Plug Flow Technology, the system is designed to handle diverse feedstocks while reducing the need for dilution water and supporting efficient site-assembled project delivery.

A Biogas Plant Built for High-Solids Feedstocks

Arcistar’s biogas plant is designed to process organic materials with a high solids content and convert them into biogas through anaerobic digestion. Arcistar’s Dry Plug Flow configuration allows the system to work with different types of organic feedstock without relying on large volumes of dilution water.

The technology is suited to feedstocks such as agricultural residues, animal waste, food waste and other biodegradable materials, giving projects greater flexibility in how locally available resources can be utilised.

The plant also uses a modular, factory-made reactor design, helping shift more of the manufacturing and quality control away from the project site.

How It Works

Arcistar’s biogas plant uses Arciplug®’s Plug Flow anaerobic digestion to convert organic feedstock into biogas. The system is designed around the characteristics of the material being processed, allowing high-solids feedstocks to move through the digestion process with controlled mixing and biological breakdown.

01

Feedstock Preparation

The process begins with preparing the selected organic material for digestion. Depending on the feedstock, this can include agricultural residues, animal waste, food waste and other biodegradable materials. The preparation stage ensures the material is suitable for consistent processing inside the reactor.

02

Anaerobic Digestion

The prepared feedstock enters the reactor and moves progressively through the digestion cycle. Microorganisms break down the organic matter in a series of biological reactions, while the system maintains conditions needed for continuous digestion. Inoculum is recycled within the process to support microbial activity.

03

Biogas Generation

The breakdown of organic matter produces biogas, which is collected for subsequent treatment and upgrading. The Arciplug®’s Plug Flow system can process feedstocks with dry matter levels of 35% to 40%, reducing the need for dilution water during digestion.

INSTALLATION

Factory-Made
Modular
Site-Assembled

Rather than constructing the entire reactor from scratch at the project location, Arcistar uses factory-manufactured components that are transported to site and assembled there. This reduces on-site construction work and brings greater consistency to the installation process. The modular approach also allows the plant to be configured around the site’s available space, feedstock, and project requirements.

India’s First Factory-Built Modular CBG Solution

Usage & Applications

The technology can be applied across projects where locally available organic resources can be converted into renewable energy.

Suitable for materials such as paddy straw, pressmud, and Napier grass.

Can process suitable manure and other livestock-derived organic material.

Applicable to food, kitchen, and other biodegradable waste streams.

Can support projects that seek to convert locally available organic waste into biogas and, where applicable, compressed biogas.

Key Benefits

Reduced Water Requirement

High-solids feedstocks such as paddy straw, pressmud and Napier grass reduce the need for adding dilution water during digestion.

Lower Energy Use

The reactor requires less electricity than conventional CSTR systems.

Factory-Made Reactor

Major reactor components are manufactured off-site and assembled at the project location.

35% to 40% Dry Matter

The system can handle feedstocks with high dry matter content, including challenging organic materials.

Multiple Feedstock Options

Suitable materials include paddy straw, pressmud, Napier grass, manure, food waste and MSW.

Controlled Flow

Feedstock moves through the reactor continuously, allowing digestion and biogas generation to continue throughout the process.
